Four world-renowned specialty lens fitters will be sharing their knowledge and experience. Along the three modules, they will walk us through scleral shape, scleral Profilometry and scleral lens fitting, with the goal of giving practitioners a framework to oversee and integrate scleral lens fitting into their practices.

Dr. Thomas P. Arnold is an Optometrist and President of Today’s Vision Sugar Land. Highly qualified Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He was a Research Associate in the Early Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy (founded by the National Eye Institute) at the University of Texas Medical School.

He is a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society and an associate member of the International Society of Contact Lens Specialists. He is also the co-chair of the International Congress of Scleral Contacts (ICSC).

Dr. Tom Arnold has been a consultant for and spoken on behalf of Blanchard Lab, Bausch + Lomb Specialty Vision Products, Boston Sight Sclerals, EyePrint Prosthetics and AccuLens. Currently he is an Ambassador for Eaglet Eye.

Dr. Jedlicka is an Associate Professor at Indiana University School of Optometry, and the Director of the Cornea and Contact Lens Service.

He is a Diplomate in the American Academy of Optometry’s Cornea, Contact Lens, and Refractive Technologies Section, a past President of the Scleral Lens Education Society, and a Fellow and past board member of the Contact Lens Society of America.

Dr. Jedlicka has contributed to multiple textbooks as an author on the topic of scleral lenses. He is the developer of the Zenlens and ZenRC scleral lenses and is a consultant to Bausch and Lomb.

Dr. Leonard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from San Diego State University and a Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry. He served his internships at the Center for the Partially Sighted in Santa Monica and Fort Ord Army Hospital.

Dr. Leonard is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. He is also a member of the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section.

Dr. Morrison received her Doctorate, Masters in Vision Science, and Residency in Cornea and Contact Lens from Pacific University College of Optometry. She served on faculty at the University of Houston College of Optometry where she team-facilitated the expansion of a formalized myopia control program.

Now she is back in Canada where she practices at Mission Eye Care Center for Dry Eye and Corneal Disease in Calgary, is a clinical rotation site instructor for the University of Waterloo College of Optometry, and also co-founder of the Myopia Academy.

Module 1 - BASICS of scleral fitting

WATCH RECORDING

Dr Jason Jedlicka and Dr Tom Arnold will discuss scleral fitting basics. They will provide us with fundamental knowledge of Profilometry maps and parameters and the prerequisite for fitting sclerals. They will explain how having Profilometry data can ease scleral fitting. After this module you will have a better understanding of the ocular and scleral shape, you will be able to interpret basic 3D-height Profilometry maps and to use these for easier scleral fitting.

Module 2 - NEXT LEVEL on how to improve scleral fitting

WATCH RECORDING

Join Dr Tom Arnold and Dr Barry Leonard to learn more about scleral fitting: Which are the most important factors for successful fitting? How can technology provide an improved scleral fitting process? They will highlight the different scleral profiles and which lens design is best in each case. This module will teach us more advanced fitting techniques and how to use Profilometry data for fitting sclerals.

Module 3 - ADVANCED scleral fitting and solving challenges

WATCH RECORDING

Dr Sheila Morrison and Dr Tom Arnold will discuss how, despite the advancement in technology to better understand ocular surface and improve scleral fitting, challenges related to scleral lens fitting still occur. They will discuss how to deal with the most common complications and will be sharing several challenging cases. At the end of this third module, you have an improved understanding on how to prevent and ultimately treat fitting challenges.
